Day 248

finally met up with my friend/hairdresser today, for a well overdue catch up.  i haven't seen her since we did the shoot for the competition she won....and that was months ago!  obviously i am very overdue for a haircut too.
i went over to her place and hung out with her and her son for lunch.  was a lovely relaxed arvo, which in amongst everything that is going on, was pretty damn nice!

well i got it sorted - yuss!!!!  and all my images basically finished.  i can pretty much relax now....oh cept i told andrew i would help him for the rest of the week - so i guess i will still be pretty busy!

Day 241

second shoot today for the remaining pitch models.  i have to say it was a lot of fun.  wish i could have had more time with each of them to do some more interesting stuff, but for ease we had them all turning up at the same time, so you really didn't want to keep them hanging around.
I managed to nab this shot at the end of the shoot with the last group of girls i shot.

Day 229

popped along to the model auditions for 'pitch' tonight and snapped a few shots.  pitch is the end of year fashion show for the students at the cpit fashion school.  the third years show a collection of work, and have to source their own models, where as the first and second years, show pieces from a range of genre's and get their models from these auditions.  this year was the largest turn out ever with over 150 models(from memory), pre-registering.  it was interesting, to say the least.

Day 216

did part one of a two part shoot of a friend's paintings today. he is exhibiting at jonathan smart gallery in november and needed photos for his catalogue. so exciting!
these works aren't small (as you will see), so photographing them was not easy, neither was avoiding glare as the works have a coating and are oils. but overal it was a heaps of fun. the works are amazing, particularly coz of their size, but also the subject matter.
so looking forward to seeing them all finished and up in the gallery.

Day 197

awoke to a stunning day today, which was fabulous, as i was headed down to the gardens to do a photoshoot with my cousin and her whanau. as per yesterday's post, i had visited the garden's the day before to check out some locations, and double check the light.
we had a super-fun morning with misbehaving children, well not so much misbehaving, but a lot of over the top smiling and poking out of tongues. so in the end i had to just keep shooting, i realised that continually shooting made the kids realise that it wasn't a 'special' thing when you did press the button, so they relaxed...more so luca...charlotte was just copying big bro most of the time.
after a good hour and a half session, which did include some games of mr wolf and the like, we headed over to arts centre for coffee and ice cream and a chillax in the sun.

Day 148

headed back to the ch' early this arvo. being a non-drinker there was no hangover to speak of, just a very thick headcold, ugh, snot city!
while we had been away caf (christchurch arts festival) had started. as part of the festival this year, cpit had launched the creative industries faculty, which was created at the start of this year to combine all creative schools, within the polytechnic, under one umbrella. each of the design streams had work shown on make-shift stands designed by architecture students, along high st. along with two others, the boy and i had our work chosen to represent the photography dept. yay. it looked pretty impressive too, i have to say :)

Day 147

jury is still out as to whether i like weddings or not. whether it's just i'm not a partier, or the fact that all my friends are 'stand-alone' friends, so whenever i go to one i don't really know anyone else. today's one had added pressure, being the photographer, the first 'wedding' i've shot to boot.
once again it was not a pleasant morning for boy(who by the way was helping me shoot the day's events). i was foul!! hmmm, need to work on that. finally decided what to wear, thank goodness. it helped that it was a lovely day out.
we finally got there, a little late, but then they were running late anyway - so no worries!
we went off and did our thing, and after the first few shots it was sweet as. well i'm never happy with my work, so it was as sweet as good be with my stupid standards. the ceremony was a little harder, just due to positioning etc. but we had it covered with the two of us. we also decided to use my blackboard & get the guest's to write a note and then snap them.

some of my fav snaps of the day are on my stuff about me blog. check it out.

About This Blog

365 days has been around for ever (it's probably older than me even). i have resisted the temptation to do one, until now.
i am the photographic artist in residence at christchurch polytechnic, new zealand, this year. a friend decided she was going to do a 365 days, and conned me into doing it too. I figured it would be a great project for the year, and a great way to remember the year. to make it a little more challenging, i decided to take self-portrait each day.
so here goes
